A great new chance for girls to enjoy ‘the beautiful game’

TOP coaches from Regent’s Park Football Club have teamed up with the Royal Parks in a bid to get more girls from across Camden and Islington involved in the beautiful game.

Having been working closely with the London FA, the Royal Parks are set to launch a new girls’ league next month, which will take place at Regent’s Park on Tuesday evenings.
Regent’s Park FC are hoping they will have assembled two teams to take part in the six-a-side competition before the big kick-off on April 22, and are searching for players to take part in the action.
The 10-week tournament is just part of a new scheme aiming to get more five to 15-year-olds playing football. Youngsters of all abilities are being urged to join in a special two-hour training session at the Hub in Regent’s Park on Saturday March 29 between 10am and noon. Sessions cost £8, although girls who are entitled to free school dinners won’t have to pay.
Despite a slight disruption because of Easter and the upcoming school holidays, training will continue throughout the year with coaches hoping that girls will continue to train and grow with the club.
Nicky Keen, who runs Regent’s Park FC alongside John McCulloch, was delighted that the club is focusing on the girls’ game: “We’re thrilled that our unique football skills programme will now be available to girls in Regents Park.
“Our plan is to fully develop the children’s individual skills as well as their collective play, with the emphasis on playing skilful football rather than simply just winning matches.”
Any girls interested who are in finding out more information about the new league or training with Regent’s Park FC can contact Nicky on 07809 018 905 or visit www.regentsparkfc.com
