Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 6 March 2008

Kind offer

• I LOST my wallet containing all my credit cards, nearly £100 in cash as well as lot of other valuable items when I left it behind at a shop in Kentish Town Road last week.
I realised within 10 minutes that I had left my wallet behind and rushed back to the shop but unfortunately it was no longer there. The staff said that they had not seen it, and I have no reason to disbelieve them, but unfortunately they had no CCTV in operation which might have shown who had helped themselves to the temptation I had left in their way. To my amazement a young woman, a complete stranger, who overheard my conversation, came up to me and asked whether I had enough money to get home, because if not she would gladly lend me some money. I had my bus pass so did not have any problems, but I was so taken by her gesture that I went home feeling warmed by the kindness of a stranger, rather than worrying about my loss.
