Keeper on target for Phoenix in 6-4 thriller

PHOENIX shot-stopper Barry Breen swapped his goalie gloves for a goal celebration on Sunday when he scored to help lead his team to victory against Archway Allstars at Hackney Marshes.
Breen made a rare trip upfield to score from a free-kick as title chasing Phoenix put in one of their best-ever first-half performances. Dean Syer, Mark ‘Munchie’ Doyle, Aaron Clarke, Breen and an own-goal gave the Division One high-flyers a commanding 5-0 lead.
Archway pulled two goals back, but leading scorer James Cole netted his 19th goal of the season as Phoenix ran out 6-4 winners.
Terry O’Neil, James Birney, Leigh Hartley and Anthony Hassan were all on target for Archway.
Reddot are a point clear at the top of the Division One table after they beat a struggling Moorehouse side 5-2. John Yates, John Donovan, Jon Dowsett, Jason Medford and Paul Reid were all on target for Reddot.
Mo Samba and Emmanuel Jonjo gave Moorehouse a glimmer of hope with a goal each. Meanwhile in the President’s Cup, Division Three leaders FC Shooters put in a magnificent performance to earn a draw against Division One opponents Cobden Athletic.
A textbook finish from Joe Thompson gave Cobden an early lead. But the Shooters made their first-half dominance count when Monserat brothers Jay Jay and Marc both found the back of the net to turn the match around.
Shooters were denied a memorable win on the hour mark when Chris Knott slotted home from close range to earn Cobden a 2-2 draw.
