Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 28 February 2008

Jubilee Centre scandal

ON Friday night the BBC2 Newsnight programme dedicated its first 30 minutes to the matter of so-called yob culture.
The debate was wide-ranging but the consensus was that youngsters say they are bored and that “there’s nothing to do”.
A short film showed what can be done: a clearly outstanding boxing club for boys in west London is doing terrific work.
Yet here in Camden Town, a £3 million lottery-funded youth centre in the heart of the inner-city lies closed and unused.
The Jubilee Centre lying idle is a scandal, and a shocking waste of public money.
Do not the youngsters of Camden Town deserve better than this?
