Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 28 February 2008

Market forces

• I had been a market trader in Camden for many years and was eventually forced out by the high rents charged for the cramped trading conditions especially in the stables, owners of now fated canal market.
Of course, I have every sympathy with the traders who have lost all of their stock and business, as a result of the major fire.
However, even when trade was bad and perhaps I was I was struggling to keep my business afloat, I would still make sure that I had both stock and, equally important, public liability insurance (some markets would insist on the latter). I was a member of the National Market Traders Federation (further details available online). I found this organisation very helpful. They provide public liability and information on stock insurance for members.
