Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 28 February 2008

Our fight for the NHS

I admire Barbara Saunders in her fight against the Camden Primary Care Trust about the controversial takeover of three Camden GP surgeries (Patient: ‘See you in the High Court’, February 21).
In the same way, there was no consultation, although we had this fight, when one doctor was taking over. I am 86 years old and could not afford to take them to court, although I would love to do so.
It seems to me that the £1 million they will earn for their first year would be much better going to the National Health Service in this country. We have lost enough of our companies overseas that soon England will be owned by people from overseas!
While I am writing to you I will also bring up our fight to keep our caretakers. We are lucky that we have a marvellous man for whom nothing is too much trouble.
Contract cleaners will only be on site for a few hours before going to their next job, leaving anything that might need attention until they arrive the next day. As usual I don’t suppose that Camden Council will take any notice of the requests of their tenants.
