Boston glee party as Unicorn lose out

CHAMPIONS Unicorn lost ground on table-toppers Boston Potters on Monday when they slipped to a narrow 5-4 defeat against Boston Boys in Division One of the Chalk Farm Pool League.
Boston Boys captain Scott Ardley saw his team storm into a match-winning 5-1 lead to secure the points to move up to third in the table. Unicorn, who have played a game less than their title rivals, won the remaining three frames to stay within touching distance of league leaders Boston Potters.
The result leaves the Potters eight points clear at the top after they battled back from 4-0 down to seal a thrilling 5-4 victory over club mates Boston Rimmers.
Swiss Scientists slipped to fourth after losing 6-3 against the Gloucester Arms ‘A’ team, while the only other top flight fixture saw Peckwater beat Boston Arms 6-3.
In Division Two, Murray Arms are now an incredible 47 points clear at the top after they stormed to a resounding 7-2 win over Unicorn Ladies.
Elsewhere there were wins for the Grafton Arms, who beat Regent’s Park 5-4, and Angies, who overcame the Gloucester Arms ‘B’ team 6-3.

• LEAGUE leaders the Sovereign ‘A’ team suffered a shock 5-4 defeat against the Victory ‘B’ team on Monday in the Camden Pool League.
Closest rivals St Aloysius took full advantage of Sovereign’s blip as they beat the Golden Lion ‘B’ team 6-3 to move within two points of top spot with a game in hand.
The Golden Lion ‘A’ team also dropped vital points as they lost 6-3 against Cock Tavern.
The only remaining game saw Escape beat Victory ‘A’ 6-3.
