Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 21 February 2008

Wardens should stay

• FURTHER to your article (We need our street wardens, January 31) does Councillor Ben Rawlings understand that the deployment of street wardens in 2001 was necessary because of the high level of drug dealing and prostitution which surrounded King’s Cross station and was displaced into surrounding residential areas by the success of Operation Welwyn?
This resident is stating quite clearly to councillors that the wardens should stay where they are and that if other wards need street wardens then the good practice experienced in Bloomsbury should be extended without lessening what has turned out to be an excellent service.
