Slick Gunners keep up pace

Premier League
Arsenal 5, Liverpool 2

THE Gunners extended their lead at the top of the FA Women’s Premier League on Sunday with a convincing victory over Liverpool at Boreham Wood FC.
Lianne Sanderson and Julie Fleeting hit two goals apiece as Arsenal maintained their 100 per cent start to the season. Former Haverstock pupil Rachel Yankey was also on target as the defending champions moved four points clear at the top of the table, with five games in hand over their closest rivals.
Chantelle Parry and Fay McCoy were on target for Liverpool.

Acton Sports Club 1, Spurs 0

SPURS were unlucky not to come away with a share of the spoils on Sunday when they were undone by a late strike in their testing away encounter against league leaders Acton.

Greater London League
Russell Cup
Westside 2, Katabella 1

THE Kats crashed out of the Russell Cup on Sunday when they were narrowly beaten by Westside.
The home side dominated the first-half, but defensive duo Lindsey Tethal and Jen Berlin were in exceptional form for Katabella to help keep the score line level going in at the break.
The Camden-based team made a blistering start to the second-half, with Rachel Ojelade, Helen Frazer and Jen Coupland all carving out good chances. But against the run of play Westside struck twice in quick succession to all but kill off the game.
Coupland pulled a goal back to give the Kats late hope, but it was to prove no more than a consolation as Westside held out to clinch the win.
