Salma’s dad returns home

THE father of tragic runaway Salma ElSharkawy has returned to England following more than a month in detention in Egypt. Walid ElSharkawy, whose
12-year-old daughter was killed in a car crash last summer while in the care of Camden Council, disappeared on Christmas Eve as he was due to board a plane from Cairo.

Where should pupils go?

A PUBLIC consultation has started to determine the future location of Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children in Swiss Cottage, which must move to make way for a new secondary school. Options available are joining with schools in Camden or Haringey.

‘£10,000 raid’

MASKED raiders struck at Bookers Cash and Carry in Camley Street, Camden Town, at 7pm last night (Wednesday). Two men in white masks threatened staff with a firearm but fired no shots before escaping with what is understood to be more than £10,000.

Reina plaque

THE home of England’s first woman councillor could be marked with a plaque. Belsize Park Residents Association wants an English Heritage blue plaque on the Belsize Avenue house of Reina Lawrence, who served on Hampstead Borough Council in 1907.

Heath detour

A new cycle lane is planned from Spaniards Inn to Whitestone Pond, Hampstead. It is hoped it will deter riders from cutting through the Heath.
