Victim’s security ‘at risk’

A MURDER trial has heard how pensioner Allan Chappelow unleashed a furious volley at bank staff who posted a credit card and personal identity number to his home address using normal first-class mail.
Mr Chappelow, who was found bludgeoned to death at his home in Downshire Hill, Hampstead, in June 2006, angrily complained to call centre staff that they had put his security at risk.
Defendant Wang Yam, 46, of Denning Road, Hampstead, is on trial at the Old Bailey where he denies murdering the 86-year-old recluse and other counts relating to bank and credit card fraud.
The prosecution alleges that Mr Yam, 46, made a number of calls to try to access accounts in the pensioner’s name which held as much as £52,000.
The trial continues.
