Size no barrier to Cally tally of medals

A TEAM of six swimmers from Cally Masters rose to the unfamiliar challenge of competing in a 50m pool at the weekend when they made waves at the London and South-East Regions Long Course Meet in Crawley.
A series of perfect pool performances saw Christine Jaeggi win both the 200m and 50m butterfly, Sara Perry touch home first in the 200m freestyle, Camilla George and Gerard McKinney take gold in the 100m backstroke, while Jonathon Kernkraut finished first in the 200m individual medley.
Jaeggi, Perry, George and Caroline Wilson then joined forces to finish second in the women’s freestyle relay, while Kernkraut won silver in the 50m fly. George and McKinney also captured bronze in the 50m fly.
Camden Swiss Cottage Masters started their season in style as they returned from the competition with an impressive 17 medals.
Leading the way was Kirsty Melville, who took gold in the 100m and 200m freestyle and silver in the 50m freestyle and 50m fly. Club mate Lucy Mullan added to the growing medal haul as she won gold in the 400m individual medley and silver in the 100m fly.
Meanwhile, in the 80-84 age group Susan Halter took gold in the 50m freestyle and the 200m backstroke, before claiming silver in the 50m and 100m backstroke.
The goldrush continued with Vicki Linton-Crook winning gold in the 100m backstroke, then silver in the 800m freestyle and bronze in the 200m and 400m freestyle.
Newcomer Angus MacGowan clinched silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m individual medley, while Matt Molloy took silver in the 800m freestyle.
