‘Hoodie’ hero rescues pensioner after fall

A PENSIONER is searching for the “hoodie” who came to her rescue after she tripped on a cracked pavement in Gospel Oak.
Isabella Weilk, 78, wants to thank the young man who helped her last Wednesday afternoon when she lost her footing on a loose paving slab in Gilden Walk and fell face first to the ground. Isabella needed eight stitches to her chin and was treated for swelling.
“The young man who was there said: ‘Can I help?’,” said Isabella. “He was very polite. I thought to myself’ they are not all bad’. I do get frightened when I walk past big groups of youths because you don’t know what they will do to you, but I was very grateful to him. I just didn’t get his name.”
A council spokeswoman said: “I’m very sorry to hear that a member of the public has hurt themselves and wish them a speedy recovery. All Camden roads are inspected on a three-month cycle.”

• Ms Weilk is urging the kind-hearted teenager to contact the New Journal so she can thank him in person.
