Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 7 February 2008

Towering errors

• THE Euston Tower is a beautiful, simple, building opposite Warren Street station.
It can be seen throughout Regent’s Park and catches the light wonderfully.
However, Camden Council gave permission for a wall to be built on the roof by the Ministry of Defence.
This completely ruins the relationship between the roof and the sky.
Meanwhile, in Piccadilly Westminster Council has permitted a Disney-with-bobbles block between the modernist Simpson’s building (Now Waterstone’s) and Wren’s St Anne’s Church. I know it is difficult for advisory bodies to keep pace with planning applications but surely there are professionals with some aesthetic sensibility in the councils themselves.
