Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 31 January 2008

Counting on police

• YOUR page one story (Beaten, but not even a statistic, January 24) highlights all the main problems with the police being in charge of the statistics by which they are judged.
I had to threaten to complain for improper conduct when a police constable refused to give me an incident number for a burglary on the grounds that I could not prove that my smashed front door was damaged as part of the “alleged” burglary.
But there is a further issue. If our new borough commander, Chief Superintendent Dominic Clout, wishes to make decisions based on correct data, then it is up to him to ensure that the data on his desk are correct.
