Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 31 January 2008

Activities for the young

• IT is good to see our local councillor Chris Philp pressing for more youth activities in the Gospel Oak area (Should we beware of the dog owners? January 24).
At Queen’s Crescent Community centre, together with our local charity partner Gospel Oak Action Link (GOAL), we have been doing just that over the past 18 months.
We are now able through our charity fundraising activities to run programmes for young people in the Gospel Oak area most nights of the week and on Saturdays.
We hope Cllr Philp will support us in expanding our work as we are acutely aware that more facilities are needed.
However, I think Cllr Philp may also have forgotten that one of the first actions of the Tories and Lib Dems in May 2006 was to reduce grants for youth work in the Gospel Oak area resulting in a cut of 2/3 in the nights we were able to run youth programmes.
Sally Gimson
Vice-Chair Queen’s Crescent Community Centre, NW5
