Trophies galore as Anaconda mark triumphant season

STAR splashers from Anaconda Swimming Club were rewarded for their efforts throughout a triumphant season on Monday at the Cally Pool in Caledonian Road.
Islington’s executive member for leisure Councillor Ruth Polling turned out to present the youngsters with their trophies and help add the finishing touches to what has been a magnificent campaign for the club.
Among the outstanding swimmers was Fred Cornwell, who scooped Anaconda’s Top Boy accolade after a string of perfect pool performances. The talented nine-year-old has been in unstoppable form as he powered through the waves in the 100m backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.
As an added surprise, Fred was also crowned Anaconda’s Most Improved Boy of 2007, having shown the biggest improvement in the total of his times for all four strokes.
Morgan Mockler was awarded the Top Girl Trophy after winning four gold medals in her age category. Meanwhile teammates Claire Walton and Dom McLoughlin also struck gold after winning their respective competitions.
Valentia Costa received the medal for the Most Improved Girl. Awards for second and third places in the most improved category were also presented to Andrew Bartha and Fred Celul in the boys’ category, and Lauren Spiers and Naomi Jefs in the girls’ division.
