Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 10 January 2008

We can’t give our chemists the boot

• HERE we go again. The government are saying our small chemists will be forced to close down.
I have used Sandylight Chemist in Queens Crescent for many years. There is always a friendly atmosphere.
Many people are on first-name terms with the pharmacists and staff, you can always go in and ask for advice and you will always be listened too. No, I don’t want to use Boots or Lloyds and become yet another statistic instead of a human being.
Many times iI have tried to give up smoking and failed, but Manny or Vijay were not giving up. They spoke to me and advised me. Could the big chemists really take this trouble? No, I would just be another person picking up a prescription. I have now quit smoking since last July.
This is our community and we want our chemists. Closing them will hit people hard.
The elderly who could get there may need to rely on others. The financially deprived will have to pay ridiculous fares, and what about the disabled who cannot travel on there own.?
