Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 10 January 2008

The route of problem

• I AM woken from my slumber by the bed shaking – it must be 5.30am and the first 393 of the day.
After just four and half hours’ sleep since the last bus of the day before, I am feeling a little edgy.
As my bedroom is only about 4.5 metres from the curb it is not surprising that the bus is going to make the bedroom vibrate. That is one of the reasons why there is a 7.5-ton lorry ban on Leighton Road.
The bus has now just ignored this ban and the lorries have also returned with a vengeance – well “why should they be excluded” they think.
We are told by the pro camp that we should look at the bigger picture – that is why the LR residents came up with an alterative route, which does not disturb other residents but keeps the connection between Islington and Morrisons.
This subject is now dividing our community and the sooner both sides can come to a mutual solution the better.
