Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 10 January 2008

50 years of public work

• I was sad to hear that former Haverstock Councillor Roy Shaw had passed away this weekend. I am constantly struck by the regard in which Roy is held here in Haverstock. Having first entered politics as a young man, Roy spent his whole life serving the people of our borough. He was very much a part of our community and will be sincerely missed.
Everyone who knew Roy – and you would be hard pushed to find anyone in Haverstock who did not – will have their own memories of him. Personally, as Roy’s successor, I have drawn inspiration from his remarkable 50 years of public service and the many warm stories I hear of his work for local residents.
I would like to send condolences to Roy’s family and friends, on behalf of people here in this area which he loved.
Cllr MATTHEW SANDERS (Haverstock)
