Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 10 January 2008

Praise for wizardry of pupil actors

• I attended Haverstock School’s production of the Wizard of Oz.
This was a truly magnificent production and all involved are to be congratulated. It shows just how good our secondary schools are at producing all-round educated, confident and self-assured young people.
This is the same school that Councillor Alexis Rowell condemns as a “sink school” and one of those smeared by Councillor John Bryant. I wonder whether either of them saw the musical.
As a governor of a Camden primary school I am appalled that we have an Executive Member for Children who has such prejudiced and cynical views.
If Mr Bryant did attend the Wizard of Oz perhaps he should be mindful of the fate of the Wicked Witch of the West, the character who certainly does not have the interests of children at heart.
