Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 10 January 2008

We all loos out because of revellers from the Forum

• I AM writing in relation to the problems caused by clients of the Kentish Town Forum on Saturdays and Sundays.

One of the consequences of the bad behaviour has been to undermine a scheme launched by the council to get local businesses to open up their toilet facilities for use by older people, the disabled or parents with small children. A number of businesses responded positively to the scheme. As there are no longer any public toilets in Kentish Town, this scheme offered the only respite to those caught short. However, I understand that those businesses willing to join the scheme have now withdrawn their co-operation because of the bad behaviour of the clients of the Forum.
Caversham Older People’s Organisation was involved in a project (the SHOPP Project) with KOVE in Kilburn to improve accessibility for older and disabled people to local shops, which would benefit the shops and the shoppers.
Kilburn now has an excellent scheme with access to toilets, whereas Kentish Town, thanks to the Forum clients, has no such facilities, despite the success of the SHOPP scheme in working with local businesses.
Unless people actively protest to the council about this disgraceful behaviour and its consequences, there will be no opportunity to oppose or change the licence at the end of the year. CEPO would strongly support a campaign of protest.
