Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 3 January 2008

How to find a crushed BMW?

• HMMMM. I am entirely prepared to believe that Camden Council could be quite this incompetent and lacking in any sense of proportion (£20,000 car destroyed for £120 bill, December 20).
You quote the unfortunate owner as saying that Camden have offered no proof that it was crushed.
It was the New Journal which ran a series of stories about how little old ladies taken into nursing homes or mortuaries had their flats cleared out by council staff, with no inventory prepared, and everything allegedly ending up “in a skip”.
I believe that there is an easy way to see what became of a car by the getting the owner to check with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency whether the statutory notification of this event was given – you can see which way my mind is working…
