Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 3 January 2008

Unkind cuts

• CONCERNING the attack on the old and vulnerable through cuts in order to cap the council tax, it’s true New Labour has let us all down with central government failing to give money for new housing and repairs to council stock. Shame on them for that and other big mistakes like diverting funds for wars.
I am a part-time care worker and I see first hand what the cuts are doing.
I have 70, 80 and 90-year-old “service users” in tears wondering what they are going to do.
Is this the “heart” of the regime at the town hall?
There seems to be money for the council leader Keith Moffitt to go jaunting off to South Africa. Maybe he is in competition with Ken Livingstone, recently getting his jollies in India at the taxpayers’ expense.
There is something rotten in the state of UK plc.
