Anacondas avoid drop

MEMBERS of Islington based swimming club Anaconda were jumping for joy on Saturday after securing their place in Division One of the Speedo League for another season.
Star swimmer Brett McLean led the charge as he set two individual club records to win the open 100m breaststroke and finish third in the 200m individual medley.
McLean also helped set a tremendous new club record in the men’s open 6x50m relay when he joined forces with teammates Ben Hartog, Leo Kirby, Hayden Thomas, Josh Wright and Wayne Lock.
Elsewhere Dom McLoughlin, 12, set a fantastic new club record on his way to winning the Under-14s 100m freestyle.
The Under-14 boys’ team of McLoughlin, Daniel Jeffs, Andrew Boadi, John Rivers and Joe Grubb also secured two new club records when they came second in the freestyle relay and fourth in the medley relay.
The strength of the boys’ squad took the team of Jake Usher, Joshua Edwards, Joseph Edwards and Aiden Donaghey to second place in the Under-12s medley relay, while the team of Kirby, Gabriel Cramer, Chris Jackson and Jud Broscombe-Walker took second place in the Under-16s freestyle relay.
There were excellent individual second places for Morgan Mockler, Joseph Edwards, Julia Taylor and Rhianne Thomas, helping Anaconda secure the points they needed to keep their place in Division One.
