Bazaar fun and games add extra cash to the ‘smoothie’ efforts of Age Concern

AGE Concern’s successful Christmas bazaar raised more than £500 on Saturday.
Abul Choudhury, deputy manager of the Great Croft resource centre for the over 60s, was delighted by the day’s total of £520.
The bazaar included cake stalls, home-made jams and marmalades. as well as a tombola.
Many of the older people who took part will benefit directly from the proceeds, which are to be put back into the charity’s local schemes and amenities.
The centre, in Cromer Street, King’s Cross, offers computer lessons and art and craft classes, Tai-chi, indoor bowling, singing and dancing and much more.
The bazaar is one of the charity’s regular fundraising activities for older people in the local community, only with a festive feel. Since the charity receives no regular independent financing, its members and volunteers rely on fundraising.
In recent months they have collaborated with trendy juice company Innocent, producing winter bobble-heads for their smoothie bottles and raising £700.
The money will also help fund outings over the coming months.
