St Pancras fighters
Mixed fortunes for St Pancras boxers

Heavyweight performances lead to shot at nationals

THREE top fighters from St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club suffered mixed fortunes on Saturday when they stepped between the ropes at the York Hall in Bethnal Green for the London Finals of the Senior Novice Championships.
Hard-hitting heavyweight Richard McCauley put in two commanding performances as he powered his way to victory to be crowned London Champion. The Camden fighter, 22, will now return to the ring early next month when he competes in the National finals, which will be held in Romford, Essex.
Kentish Town duo Alex Kyriacou and Alan Higgins both narrowly missed out on a place in the National finals after they were out-pointed in their respective welterweight and light-heavyweight contests.
A team of six St Pancras boxers were also in action on Wednesday when the club, which is based at the Pat Newman Centre in Talacre Road, Kentish Town, held its main annual boxing show at the Irish Centre in Camden Town.
The results were evenly split down the middle, with Haruhito Tomi, Kieron Thomas and Steve Cusick all winning their respective fights, while Charlie Worley, Michael Cawley and Charlie Webb were narrowly beaten.
