Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 22 November 2007

Venue to fight for

• AS a professional musician, living locally, one of the reasons I came to Camden was because of its live music history.
This culture is not just about the venues, but the associated “industry” which comes with it.
I’m sure that MTV and the record labels which grew in the 1980s and 1990s did not come here just because of the weather, they’re here too because of the existing buzz which is created by places like the Electric Ballroom.
Why can’t the Ballroom be saved when the Tube station is rebuilt?
There seems to be plenty of room for office space, so why not the Ballroom as well? We’ve all been here before, so why haven’t the powers that be come up with the answers?
