Cumberland netball girls on fire with double victory

PLAYERS from Cumberland Netball Club were celebrating a double victory at the weekend after wins in both the Premier Division of the Middlesex League and Division One of the Poly League.
In the Middlesex League on Saturday the Camden based team stormed to a 63-13 victory over a young Academy ‘B’ side. Player of the match Natalie Cowie inspired in brilliant all-round display in defence and attack.
Cumberland continued their winning ways on Sunday with a slick performance against Queens in the Poly Netball League. Interceptions from Alicia Cross, Lois Tucker and Petra Horvath created good pressure, which put doubt and apprehension in the minds of the Queens’ attack, helping Cumberland seal a 44-20 victory.
Coach Tony Keogh said after the game: “It’s good to see the team improving week by week. We have a strong squad and the ability to put on any number of line-ups and dominate even a well -drilled opposition. I look forward to seeing the girls improve even more in the weeks to come.”
