Club records are smashed as Camden swimmers take on nation

A TOP team of swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage took a break from club competitions on Sunday to help Middlesex clinch a respectable seventh-place finish in Division One of the National County Championships in Sheffield.
Harry Needs sealed the outstanding result of the day when he finished second in the boys’ 14/15 100m butterfly.
The talented youngster also set a new club record as he took sixth place in the 100m backstroke. Harry, who lives in Islington, then joined forces with club-mate Felix Samuels to help the Middlesex relay team win a stunning silver medal in the medley competition.
In the boys’ 16/17 age category,
Ed Walsh put in a series of impressive performances as he finished fifth in the 100m freestyle and seventh in the 100m breaststroke.
Team-mate Bogac Ayhan recorded a new personal best time to take fifth place in the boys’ 12/13 100m butterfly. Elsewhere, Reut Benaim came 12th in the girls’ 12/13 100m fly.
Meanwhile, youngsters from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club were celebrating over the weekend after they won no fewer than 40 gold medals at the Middlesex Development meet. The Camden and Islington club stole the show, with Billy Bradley, James Burgess, Saffron Coyle, Hayley Glasford, Sophie Rittenhouse, Leanne Yates, Carline Taylor and Cordelia Grossman all winning their races.
Eugene Potter led the way as he clinched four speeding tickets.
Club-mate Sarah Taylor-Reid also picked up three tickets.
Edward Graham beat Harry Needs’s club record for the 12/13 1500m freestyle with an outstanding time of 17.49.85. And Joel Sands also swam a good time of 17.50.11.
Liam Coyle, Jesse Matthews, Leo Jaggs, Ilya Skiarov, Tamsin McKinnon, Clara Ahmed, Robin Neumann, Lucas Perry-Hill, Vergil Wong, Santiago Parilli, Alex Peake, Rachael Morton, Aron Barta, Bronwyn Matthews and Camilla Grossman all won speeding tickets.
