Haverstock and South Camden teams celebrate trophy success

FOOTBALL fever gripped the new Astroturf pitch at Acland Burghley Secondary School in Tufnell Park on Monday night as scores of talented young teams turned out for the Federation Football Championships.
Competing in the boys’ Year 7 and Year 8 division of the prestigious tournament, Haverstock School in Chalk Farm were the big winners as they netted glory in both age categories to be crowned undisputed champions.
Organised by senior PE teacher at Acland Burghley Sarah McAuley, the competition has been running throughout an action packed half term.
In the previous rounds, there was double delight for South Camden Community School in Somers Town as they won the girls’ Year 10 and 11 trophy and the boys’ Year 9 title to net their first-ever football accolades with the Federation.
Elsewhere William Ellis School in Highgate Road won the boys’ Year 10 and 11 tournament, while neighbours Parliament Hill Girls won the Year Nine trophy.
