Attacker traced via DNA after 12 years

A SEX attacker who assaulted a pensioner 12 years ago has been jailed for seven years after detectives traced his DNA.
Kirley Stanislaus, 54, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault of a 76-year-old woman in her Camden flat on Boxing Day in 1994.
His victim had come home from a Christmas visit to her sister when Stanislaus got into a lift with her and forced his way into her flat, where he said he had a knife and threatened to kill her.
He was arrested at his home in Oakley Square, Camden Town, in November after detectives reopened the case, using new forensic techniques to examine the victim’s clothing. A DNA match with Stanislaus’ saliva was found.
After sentencing of Stanislaus at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday, Detective Constable Peter Walker said: “This was a particularly harrowing case involving the indecent assault of a vulnerable elderly woman in her own home.
“The Met is committed to investigating unsolved sexual offences and will continue to work with the forensic science service to bring to justice those responsible for such attacks.”
