Women stay victorious

HIGHGATE Harriers women continued their victorious run on Saturday with a top two finish in the Sorority Cup at Trent Park.
Highflying Harrier Svenja Abel once again led the field as she hit home in style to take first place with a winning time of 28 minutes, 35 seconds. Having already secured three wins in the Metropolitan League, Abel has been instrumental for the Harriers this season.
Club-mate Esther Evans continued her exceptional cross-country form by finishing second, crossing the finishing line in 29mins, 59secs.
Out of a field of 35 runners, Louise Bernie, Natalie Vasey and Natasha Cendrowicz all secured top ten finishes as the Harriers cruised to victory.
Runners from London Heathside also enjoyed a successful afternoon as the club finished second behind Highgate, with Vanessa Parry finishing third and Jackie Wastell taking eighth place.
Elsewhere, Henry Dodwell clinched a bronze medal with a time of 26mins, 47secs as the Harriers men finished fourth in the Fraternity Cup. London Heathside ended the afternoon in sixth place, with Paul Lemmon just missing out on a top ten finish as he crossed the line in 13th spot.
