Max-imum power clinches Gold

Athletics Round-Up

SPEEDY Max Hayhurst clinched gold in a gruelling duathlon on Sunday to help the Camden Triathlon Club end their season in style at Minet Park in Hillingdon.
The talented youngster was in commanding form as he dominated his race, which consisted of a 750m run, a 10,500m bike circuit, followed by a final 1500m run.
Max, who has been accepted onto the British Triathlon World Class Development Programme, led from start to finish as he clocked a winning time of 27mins, 21secs.
Over a slightly shorter distance in the boys’ Tristar three race, Josh Lawlor made the podium as he finished third in his first ever competition with a time of 24mins, 50secs.
In the same category, London champion Misha Newman raced for the first time since August to finish in sixth place with a time of 26mins, 23secs.
Novice Leo Jaggs had to borrow a neighbours’ bike to take part in the boys’ 11-12 years age category.
Adding to the medal haul, Leo just missed out on silver as he finished third. Jamie Hayhurst finished fourth in the same race.
In the girls’ 13-14 years event, Sissy Bridge secured a top-ten finish as she sealed a time of 26mins, 24secs to come home in ninth place.
