Nine-medal haul for top swimmers

MASTERS swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage put in perfect-pool performances over the weekend at the National Short Course Championships in Sheffield.
Competing against some of the best masters from across the country, the squad of 13 swimmers won an impressive nine medals between them as they recorded a series of personal best times.
The star of the show was Nuala Muir-Cochrane who won triple gold as she powered her way to victory in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle events in the 40-44 year age division.
Meanwhile in the 30-34-year-old category, Chris Hopton clinched gold in his first-ever attempt at the 800m freestyle. He also secured two new personal bests as he went on to take bronze in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle events.
Lucy Mullan continued the medal haul as she captured bronze in the 400m individual medley.
In the team events, the club's 100-120 years 4 x 50m mixed-medley side sealed a stunning gold. Susan Maclean led off on the backstroke while Jason Williams went second in the breaststroke.
Lucy took the third fly leg, before Chris Hopton brought the team home to glory in the freestyle.
Phillip Albright, Kurt Browne, Pete Jaggs, Adam Freer, Pete Kavanagh, Graziella Doardo, Dan Scheinmann and Mike Nuemann also all enjoyed excellent swims.
Across the Pennines in Manchester, the club's junior squad were in top form at the English Schools Championships.
Edward Walsh swam an outstanding best time in the final of the senior boys 100m freestyle as he secured a respectable fourth place finish.
Team-mates Felix Samuels and Harry Needs also secured new personal bests. Felix finished seventh in the junior boys 100m freestyle, while Harry touched home in eighth place in the intermediate boys 100m backstroke.
In the girls' events, top trio Katie Hogben, Emily Drew and Devon Robins continued to make waves with a series of impressive displays.
