Camden New Journal - by PAUL KEILTHY
Published 2 November 2006

Knife attack man jailed

A 44-year-old man who stabbed his 22-year-old girlfriend outside a Camden Town pub was jailed indefinitely, writes Paul Keilthy.
Alan McAlavey will serve a minimum of three years for attacking the woman outside the Devonshire Arms in Kentish Town Road in March.
McAlavey, from Gillingham, Kent, was arrested at the scene by Camden police officers who witnessed the attack. An initial charge of attempted murder was changed to one of GBH. His victim was treated at the Royal Free Hospital and discharged.
McAlavey, unemployed, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court to “an indefinite period of detention for reasons of public safety”.
