Arsenal defenders return

Reserves Friendly
Arsenal 2
Charlton 1

DEFENSIVE duo Philippe Senderos and Gael Clichy continued their comebacks from injury as Arsenal beat Charlton 2-1 in a reserve team friendly played behind closed doors at London Colney on Tuesday.
On the pitch the Arsenal second string, who are currently topping the table in the Reserve League South having picked up 10 points from their opening four games, made a bright start against a strong Charlton side.
The Young Guns took the lead midway through the first half when Charlton centre-back Souleymane Diawara scored an own goal.
In the second half, Arsenal introduced Spanish sensation Fran Merida and the talented youngster made an immediate impact to double the Gunners’ advantage.
Charlton grabbed a late consolation through former Newcastle striker Darren Ambrose who slotted the ball home from six-yards.
