Fr Cawrse inspects the parish boundaries
Priest surveys his beat... on foot

STICK in hand, a new parish priest adopted a country tradition on Saturday when he walked the length of his parish “beating the bounds,”.
Father Christopher Cawrse, who has been at Holy Cross Church in Cromer Street for just three weeks, decided to get to know his parishioners better by walking the boundaries of his King’s Cross parish.
He said: “It’s a great tradition started in the country many years ago which is slowly being reintroduced and taken on in inner cities.
“It’s a bit of fun and a laugh. It allows me to get to know people in the area.”
The boundaries of his parish run along King’s Cross Road, Euston Road, Judd Street, Hunter Street, north of Coram’s Fields and Gray’s Inn Road.
Fr Cawrse added: “There will be big changes around here and this binds together the idea of the parish.
“This church is the closest to King’s Cross station, and with the redevelopment we’ll be the church at the heart of King’s Cross.”
Fr Cawrse spent two years with Father Rob Wickham at St Mary’s Church in Eversholt Street, Somers Town, before moving to Holy Cross.
