Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published 28 September 2006

Dairy animals suffer as well

• How contemptible of Clare Latimer to say: “In order to be kind to calves in this country we need to eat as much British veal as possible.” (Don’t be cruel – buy British veal, September 14).
Animals in this country reared for the meat or dairy industry live a tormented and cruel life from the day they are born until they are led screaming into the slaughterhouse surrounded by fear and the smell of blood.
Yes, we all love to see little lambs and calves, but meat-eaters don’t want to know (or don’t care) how these babies suffered before ending up on their dinner plates.
I became a vegan many years ago when I found out that the dairy industry is just as cruel as the meat industry.
