Revamp for Heath station

HAMPSTEAD Heath train station is in line for another multi-million pound rebuild when Transport for London takes over the Silverlink line in November.
The station, which had major building work this year to redesign the ticket office and add automatic ticket gates, will be surveyed by TfL engineers as part of an overhaul of all Silverlink stations.
They also plan to look at other stops in the borough – with the Hampstead Heath station near the top of the TfL ‘to do’ list because of crime fears and the dilapidated nature of the platform facilities.
A TfL spokesman said: “The first thing we are going to do is make sure Hampstead Heath is safe for passengers. Once we have done that, we will go on to look at what building works are needed to upgrade the station.”
The spokesman added that plans to increase services on the North London line, which runs from Richmond in the west to Stratford in the east, have yet to be confirmed.

• Passengers using the station will see fares fall from January after TfL confirmed that the station, currently in Zone 3, is being reclassified as a Zone 2 station to bring it in line with Tube stops nearby.
