Pupil scoops care prize

A CHILDCARE student at Parliament Hill School has scooped a runners-up award in a prestigious national competition to find the best student of the subject.
Mathew Campbell, 17, a pupil at Parliament Hill School was chosen as one of three runners-up for the Heinemann and Nursery World Childcare Student of the Year.
Teachers from around the country sent in work produced by pupils and the final four shortlisted students were then invited to give presentations.
The team of judges included Liz Roberts, editor of Nursery World magazine, and Penny Tassoni, childcare expert and author.
A spokesperson for Heinemann said: “During judging day they were given tasters of real-life situations involving children, which they had to respond to.
“This year was slightly unusual as three of the four winners were boys – they are usually female.”
Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony taking place at Islington’s Business Design Centre in September.
