Remodelling the recycling centre
•THE Regis Road recycling centre is currently undergoing a major upgrade. Due to its increasing popularity and the growing range of materials that can be recycled, we had simply outgrown the old facility. As construction is still under way, the current location of the bins is temporary to accommodate the builders (Recycling centre is unfriendly, August 30).
The improvements include a one-way traffic system and locating the bins centrally so residents no longer have to cross paths with the heavy machinery used to remove the materials.
By Christmas, residents will be able to recycle more than before including food and drink cartoons (Tetra Pak), rubble and wood.
There will be separate parking spaces, pedestrian areas and a passing road. In the future we will have a new service where residents can drop off their unwanted furniture for others (such as community projects) to use.
We have three members of staff on site to help answer any questions and visitors can also pop into reception to check out our architects’ designs. CLLR MIKE GREENE
