Wenger is backing Fabregas for a Premiership goal feast

Gunner boss, happy with his youngsters, says he’s not in the market for new signings

ARSENE Wenger believes teen sensation Cesc Fabregas can outshoot England’s hotshot midfielders and net more than 20 goals this season.
The Arsenal manager was speaking after watching the Spaniard smash home the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win over league-leaders Manchester City.
Fabregas scored just four goals last season and manager Wenger admitted the drought was beginning to weigh on the 19-year-old’s shoulders.
He said he feared for Fabregas, who was snatched from the Barcelona youth system in 2005, after watching him miss a sitter in the first half.
But Wenger believes Cesc has broken his goal hoodoo for good – and tipped the teenager to eclipse Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard.
He said: “Last year Gerrard scored 20 goals for Liverpool. I think Cesc can do it. And you know he now contributes at a higher level than the other players. He gets lots of assists and that balances his performance with those players if he does not score. Last year he had many chances – this year he has scored without a chance.”
Wenger said the comeback against City was proof that his Young Guns were finally coming of age.
He said: “I believe we will be there. Since the beginning of the season we won in the last seconds against Fulham. We scored late against Prague.
“And today (Saturday) we missed a penalty and still won. We have more experience and that is helping the team realise their qualities and talent. When you start to play you don’t know how good you are.”
Wenger has such faith in his youngsters that he has ruled out any new signings, simply saying: “I am not in the market.”
