Model will mean high anxiety

• THE new mental health day service model for Camden I believe is detrimental to the stability of users.
We have already had years of heightened anxiety for users about the new service to be introduced after the closure of Jamestown centre last March.
Many users have no centre to go to now, and that is not good for recovery.
The old model meant containment, sanctuary, communication, welcoming and time to recover from mental stress and bewilderment in their own time at day centres.
This was cost-effective in keeping people out of hospital.
Some change slowly is beneficial, dramatic change is detrimental.
The whole new model says cut the staff of day centres in half, have more volunteer involvement, train them as they go along?
Have user focus groups run by users?
The sick leading the sick?
Change does not necessarily mean better. I can’t see what will hold this new system together.
