Harrier shows his stamina

HIGHGATE Harrier Jose Barretta shone in two toughly contested races over the weekend, coming home in the top 100 with fine times. On Saturday Barretta ran a modest 39.5 in the Victoria Park London Pride 10k race to finish 35th of 457 runners.
On Sunday, the Harrier was back on the road to finish a highly respectable 63rd out of 916 runners in the Burnham Beeches half marathon with 1:27:11.
Meanwhile, London Heathside athlete Ricardo Beckford took the honours on the track during his club’s open meet at Finsbury Park on Saturday.
Beckford was first home in the 400m in a fast 50.1 seconds and took second place in 100m with a speedy 11.1.
Other good runs were recorded by club colleagues Norman Mitchell, who was second in the 1500m in 4:24.2 and Efrem Semreab, who took third in the 5000m with 6:18.9.
