Nuala and her boat crew celebrate beating the waves (from left) Calum McKinlay, Susan McLean, Nuala Muir-Cochrane and Lucy Roper.
Nuala’s 21-mile lake swim marathon

SWIM star Nuala Muir-Cochrane conquered the waves at the weekend when she overcame the titanic test of swimming the full length of Lake Windermere in both directions.
The Camden Swiss Cottage Masters’ swimmer called upon all her years of experience as she completed the gruelling 21-mile course in an outstanding time of 10 hours, 38 minutes.
It took a team effort to help Nuala complete the challenge as club mates Calum McKinlay and Susan MacLean, who rowed the support boat through the night, and experienced open water swimmer Lucy Roper helped administer food and drink throughout the race and guide her home to victory.
With 11 top swimmers competing in the event, Nuala was just one of five to finish as she crossed the finishing line in third place, finishing as the second highest placed female.
