Artist’s work impresses as a realistic exploration of poverty

• I DO make an effort to pick up the New Journal.
One reason is for finding out where your excellent jumble sales held, the other is to read your features.
In particular, I enjoyed reading the feature, Drawing on the Lives of Those we Don’t See (August 2) that focused on the art work of homeless people by Jacqueline Crofton. Her work is to be praised for its realistic exploration of poverty.
I have also seen a lot of poverty. I used to work at homeless drop-in centre close to London Bridge before I got married. Her drawings of the expressions and movements do give insight and understanding of the depth of trauma these marginalised people have to face on a daily basis. I’ll make an effort to see her exhibition.
