Super silver for youth athletes

SOME of the borough’s top athletes were jumping for joy on Sunday when they helped lead the Middlesex under-13s girls’ team to a deserved silver medal in the South of England Inter-Counties Championships.
Held at the Kingsmeadow Stadium, the triumphant team missed out on gold by just three points as they took on athletes from 14 rival counties.
Among the stars of the show were Uzoma Nwachukwu and Desiree Henry, who are now the two highest ranked under-13s girls’ sprinters in the country after a series of impressive performances.
Uzoma won her 100m and 200m ‘A’ races, while Desiree equalled the success in the ‘B’ races with victories in both her 100m and 200m events. The pair also combined with Rosemary Benson and Mary Fasipe to win the 4x100m relay.
