Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 July 2007

Flood relief

• MAY I say how grateful the residents of Gloucester Avenue are to the council for the flood relief scheme put in place some years ago.
The main sewer, carrying rainwater from up the hill towards Belsize Park, has to dip under the canal and, since the British Rail laundry no longer washes the build-up of grease away, clogs up and causes a bottleneck.
I had no doubt, when watching the stream of water on Friday that without it we would have been flooded again. I wonder how efficient it was and how much water backed up.
NICK POWELL
Gloucester Avenue, NW1
