Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 19 July 2007

Boys on the buses idea does not work

• I AM all in favour of free transport for children accompanied by an adult, or when going to or from school, but this blanket freedom for gangs of (usually boys) to use the buses – at all times – is disastrous. The irony is, when a young girl gets on the bus with her mother, the driver demands proof of age. This ends up in an argument with the girl in tears and the mother and girl getting off the bus.
Let’s face it, most girls try to make themselves look older. On the other hand, gangs of boys, many of an older age, get on free without any question because the drivers are too intimidated to question gangs of them.
I always admired Ken Livingstone but on this, obviously he did not think it through. Chaos!
